Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO)
MA, Dalhousie University
After earning a journalism degree and working in government communications, I decided to become a psychotherapist. I moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia where I earned my Master’s of Arts in Educational Psychology from Dalhousie University (1995), with a focus on family dynamics, trauma, and effecting social change through therapeutic work. I was studying at Harvard University in their doctorate of Education program, and then decided to return to Canada to set up a private practice and to move into community-based therapy settings and work with people instead of reading and writing about them.
I have worked in various community and government agencies, a regional police Victims Services unit, and in private practice. My focus is on assisting clients to make positive changes in their lives. I have extensive experience working with couples and families with youth and adult children on relationship repair, with people who have experienced intimate partner violence, and within government and private employee assistance (EAP) programs, helping people navigate a wide range of workplace and personal issues. Throughout my career I have received consistently positive satisfaction surveys indicating that clients have benefited from their therapy work, were better able to cope with their lives, and were more productive in their work as a result of being in therapy.
I am conveniently located in downtown Toronto. My office is in a quiet and comfortable location in the West end Toronto High Park and Roncesvalles neighbourhood.
